As part of the process of organizing the Society’s massive amount of material, the archivist must create a finding aid establish the physical and intellectual control over a specific collection. To date, we have identified and started to or have processed 26 collections. So far, the information of four collections has been uploaded to the National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections (NUCMC), making part of our holdings searchable around the world. As a complement to our NUCMC records, we have now uploaded the full finding aids and container lists of those collections to our website.
We have completed finding aids for the following collections and organizations:
- Sylvia Fay Haft Firschein Memorial Oral History Transcripts
- Independent United Jersey Verein of Paterson
- Congregation Beth Am (Teaneck, N.J.)
- Congregation Beth Israel of Northern Valley (Bergenfield, N.J.)
We still have a long way to go, and many more collections to identify and process, but these four collections offer a great stepping stone in the right direction.
