Fyge is the mother of Robert Friedman, Richard Friedman and Anne Friedman Meyers. There is a storied history behind this statue as it represents Nathan Barnert’s personal outlook i.e. “a humble young man struggling against the world but full of hope and ambition” which could well be the story of Nathan Barnert himself. Over the years the weather badly degraded the statue. Conrad Corsini, a former member of the Hospital Center’s Board of Trustees, commissioned a restoration of the statue in 1974.
